September 2015. Coimbra, Portugal. A team of British climbers ascending and measuring the tallest tree in mainland Europe, the Karri Knight, a eucalypt 72.9m tall. The small team of British experts are here to measure it officially, as it has never been measured from the top of the tree, only from the ground. They are also studying it for damage and overall health. The team set up a Tentsile tree tent and spent the night sleeping at 50m above the ground. Photo: Andrew Walmsley/Alamy Live News
