PHOTOGRAPHY TUITION FOR ALL LEVELS
A key part of my photography ethos involves sharing my experiences in the field and helping people get the most out of their cameras so that they can tell their stories better than ever. The more that people connect with the world around us, the more power we can bring to saving it!
To this end, I have been running a variety of photography workshops, aimed at everyone from complete beginners who just want to get their cameras off auto mode, to advanced photographers who would like to sharpen up their skills. I have run workshops in New Zealand, Indonesia and in the UK, and I believe that a hands-on approach working with small groups has the maximum impact for your photography.
Most of my beginners courses will be run in Oxfordshire, usually at Harcourt Arboretum or Shotover Country Park, but I will be running more specialised workshops around the country and further afield. I will also be teaching some wildlife sessions later this year at Whipsnade Zoo in Bedfordshire - more on them closer to the time!
Workshop details:
All of my workshops are conducted with small group sizes so you get the individual training that you need. All of the concepts covered will be outlined in printed workshop notes, so you can focus on your camera during the sessions.
Basics of Photography
Have you ever been frustrated that your photos just don't capture a scene the way you see it? Have you ever been tempted to try some new settings but been put off by baffling instruction manuals and far too many buttons? If so, this is the course for you. I will cover:
By the end of the day you will have a solid understanding of what makes your camera click and be ready to experiment every time you pick up your camera!
Advanced Basics
Once you're comfortable with how the shutter speed and aperture settings are changed and how they affect your photos, you're ready for my advanced class. In this workshop I will show you how to choose the right settings for the image you want to create, how to see light in a way your camera will understand and how lens choice can make all the difference to your photography. I will also be able to work through any specific issues that you may be having, using hands-on examples to help you learn new skills faster.
Individually tailored tuition:
If you would prefer a workshop to be tailored exclusively to your needs, I also offer dedicated one-to-one tuition sessions in which we focus on the aspects of photography in which you would like to improve your skills. Whether you would like to learn about the specifics of your camera's controls, practice your panning on birds in flight or start dabbling in off-camera flash, i will create a package that perfectly fits your requirements. I offer either a four hour session for £300, or a full eight hour day for £500.
Other locations:
If you would like to take part in a course but are based outside Oxfordshire, I can be flexible where we meet up. Just ask!
Gift vouchers:
Do you know someone who loves photography and would like to learn how to get the most from their camera? Why not buy them a voucher for one of my workshops? It's the perfect gift for anyone who loves to capture the world around them!
